3 Weeks 4 Dreamwidth Minithon

(stealin' this from last year!)

Since it's time for [community profile] 3weeks4dreamwidth, let's have a little reading* minithon until the 15th of May. Pick a book*, any book, and read! (You can even pick more than one, that's fine!)

If you'd like, share your plans in the comments!

*as usual - 'read' and 'book' are wide open and audiobooks, visual novels, etc. are welcome.

Something borrowed - final checkin

How did you go with reading your borrowed books? Did you make startling amounts of progress? Respectable amounts? Less than optimal amounts (yeah, I hear you, I resemble that remark).

And! Because I love these challenges, suggestions on what I might put up for a challenge in the near future? Time to be determined, depending on spoons, weather, and a stack of unpredictable events in the near future.

Something borrowed challenge - Sunday checkin

(Posting early because I'm going to be out this evening)

Have you made progress on your borrowed books during the week? Do you have grand reading plans for the weekend? Do you need a little motivation to get reading so that you have something to report in?

Tell us where you are at or where you are hoping to be!

Anyone can join the challenge at this point, drivebys and lurkers included.

There will be a last checkin on Wednesday, which will be the end of the week.

Something borrowed challenge - Friday checkin

Have you made progress on your borrowed books during the week? Do you have grand reading plans for the weekend? Do you need a little motivation to get reading so that you have something to report in?

Tell us where you are at or where you are hoping to be!

Anyone can join the challenge at this point, drivebys and lurkers included.

I'll aim to do a checkin on Sunday, so you get the weekend to make progress. And then a last checkin on Wednesday, which will be the end of the week.

Short challenge: Something borrowed

I have two three library books that need reading, and no motivation to read them. Can I interest anyone else in a one week challenge to read and return borrowed books?

February Reading: Check-in #2

How have you been getting on?

I‘ve finally finished my audiobook of Joy at Work and have started a new children‘s book by Chris Riddell.

Apologies I meant to do this on the weekend. What are you planning to read? Have you read anything this last weekend?

January Reading

Whew the first month of the year has passed the midway mark already! What have you been reading? Or what are you planning on reading this month? Is anyone interested in a February group read?

I finished two books I started last year: Jin Yong‘s Legend of the Condor Heroes and an audiobook of a German columnist. So all in all a pretty good start!

November Group Read: Check-in the Last

So it's the last day of November, time to review your joys and woes for this month! Did you get through everything you wanted this month? Or did you read something entirely different? Discover anything new or odd about your reading habits? Did you start strongly then crash and burn completely half-way through the month? (I think I read about four chapters this month...)

Did you saunter over your self-set target deadline or are you reading furiously right up to the final minute of the final day, hoping to finish one more book?

November Group Read: Check-In The Third

Ooops late post this week, I went back to work on Monday and promptly got eaten alive by work. Anyway, it's the end of week three of the challenge, how goes it for all of you? Hope you've all had a better reading week than I have… I don’t think I read a single page…

Are we starting to flag a bit as November grinds on or have we triumphs to share? Anyone defeat a book that's been taunting them for long and weary? Share your reading triumphs and disasters in the comments below.

November Group Read: Check-in The Second

We're half way through the month now and how are we getting on? Procrastinating wildly? Hiding desperately from the state of the world behind a pile of comfort reading? Reading everything except what we intended to? Forging ahead and putting everyone else to shame?!

*waves pompoms enthusiastically*

November Group Read: Check-in the First!

The first week of the challenge has reached it’s conclusion. Time to share with the class your triumphs and tribulations. Finish a book? Make a start on something that you've been meaning to get round to for ages? Made absolutely excellent progress due to stress/comfort reading in the face of current events? Launch something across the room it's so very much not your thing? Get completely distracted by another challenge or project and forgot you were meant to be doing this until you saw this post? (Or is that just me?!)

Successes and failures in the comments below!

November Group Read: Ready Steady Read!

Well, that was a pleasingly positive response - let's do this thing!

Checkins will be on Fridays except for the final one which will be a Saturday! As ever, there are no penalties for checking in late, missing a check-in or not making your target. It's all about encouraging each other to read more than we would have otherwise. If you've got a list or a target, feel free to share it in the comments below!

And most importantly, have fun! As much as one of the core ideas of this challenge is to get unread/half-read books read, life's too short to read bad books/books that aren't right for you, so don't keep slogging away at one book you're not enjoying - unless it's, you know, homework, in which case tell us and we'll up the cheerleading - just because you've listed it when you could be spending that time reading something else you'd enjoy.

Traditional Annual November Group Read!

It's almost that time of year once again, and I don't know about anyone else but I've managed to accumulate an awful lot of half-read books scattered around the house, so as per tradition I ask: anyone up for the November Group Read? As usual, there would be no themes or minimum entry requirements, the books could be any format - fiction/non-fiction, audio books, ebooks, poetry, comics, mangas, graphic novels, novellas, short stories, I'm not a purist and neither is the challenge! Anyone up for it?
