It's almost that time of year once again, and I don't know about anyone else but I've managed to accumulate an awful lot of half-read books scattered around the house, so as per tradition I ask: anyone up for the November Group Read? As usual, there would be no themes or minimum entry requirements, the books could be any format - fiction/non-fiction, audio books, ebooks, poetry, comics, mangas, graphic novels, novellas, short stories, I'm not a purist and neither is the challenge! Anyone up for it?

Date: 2024-10-21 10:17 am (UTC)Okay, so the November group read is a bit different from standard group reads in that we're not reading the same books. It's original purpose was to get folks to finish books they had sitting around half-read - library books that needed returned, things borrowed from friends, things you got distracted from by something shinier, books that you started and thought 'this is good, but I'm not in the mood for it right now' etc - but expanded to include anything lurking unread on your bookshelves. Some folks find it really handy for catching up on book related new year's resolutions.
In practical terms, there'll be a sign up post and you just reply to it saying which, or how many books you want to read/finish in November. (Can be one massive doorstep you've been wrestling with for months, finishing a book a week, or the rest of book series that was on your new years resolution list to re-read, or anything in between really.) Each week there'll be a check-in post for letting the group know how you're getting on, and cheering each other on, or commiserating if life/readers block happens. It's very low pressure.

Date: 2024-10-30 07:27 am (UTC)I'm in! My so called 'currently reading' list is sitting at 42 books, some of which haven't been touched all year. Goal will be to get that to, hmm, lets go with 30. Also, to read all my library books, return them, and Not Borrow Any More.
