glinda: just trying to read (books/reading)
[personal profile] glinda posting in [community profile] readingtogether
So, based on the response to the last post I think we can safely say that people would like to do the thing. (Thank you for keeping yourselves entertained while I fell off the internet for a week and a bit, sorry about that.) So here we have the sign up post!

Basically this can be as big or as little of a commitment as you feel up to. Dependant on your reading speed/available time you can sign up to read one book or ten books. Doesn't matter how big or small the book, only that its something that has been taking up space on your book shelf (or case/box/tottering pile beside your bed) for some time and you've never quite got round to it.

All you need to do is comment below with the book(s) you want to read this month.

Each Friday in November I will make a check-in post, and you can comment with your progress so far. Celebrating little achievements as well as big ones is heartily encouraged.

My aim is to try and read 10 (not sure I'll make it at the moment but earlier in the year I was managing a lot more than I am of late).

I've got a list of 15 to pick from and to be honest and upfront I've started some of them and been trying to get through them for a while but things have been going very slowly.

Here's the starting list....

1. The Riddle by Alison Croggon (this is a library book that contrary to the evidence of having had to renew twice already I am actually enjoying, just I'm progressing very slowly through it)
2. The Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
3. Dead in the Water by Ann Granger
4. Black Butler volume 20
5. Married to a Bedouin by Marguerite van Geldermasen (started this a while ago, but keep putting it down in favour of other things)
6. The Crowded Shadows by Celine Kiernan
7. The Shack by Wm P. Young (as with number five started a while ago but was struggling to get into it - am determined to give it one more go and if it doesn't start to gain my interest in short order, I intend abandoning it for good)
8. Shon the Taken by Tanith Lee (this has been my handbag book for carrying to work for a few weeks, but I haven't got far with it as I've been too busy during my lunch break to spend more than a couple of minutes reading)
9. War of the Worlds by H G Wells
10. Mistborn : The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
11. Black Butler volume 21
12. Firesong by William Nicholson
13. The Water Babies by Charles Kingsley
14. When Sky Fell : In Search of Atlantis by Rand Flem Ath
15. Grim Tuesday by Garth Nix

Wow, 10 is a great goal, I hope you'll manage it! Don't know the other books on your list but I really liked War of the Worlds when I read it.
