November Group Read: Check-in The First

The first week of the challenge has reached an end. Time to share with the class your triumphs and tribulations. Finish a book? Make a start on something that you've been meaning to get round to for ages? Or finally accept that that one book everyone recommended you is just not your thing and you're never going to get past the second chapter?

Successes and failures below the line please!

Well done on finishing the one from September. Good luck for next week's reading.

I've finished "A Shiver of Snow and Sky", "The Once and Future King", "The Book of Merlyn" and "Golden Bats and Pink Pigeons" - all 4 of which were on my list to finish this month. The last of these was a particular gem (written by Gerald Durrell, the late naturalist and animal conservationist, about his initial work in Mauritius to capture and breed various endangered species in an attempt to save them from extinction - several of the species he talks about in this book were saved directly as a result of his work in Mauritius and Jersey). I really didn't like The Once and Future King and its sequel The Book of Merlyn. I also finished the first library loan that came in.

I'm now reading "Pack Animals", "A Valley of Horses" and the second library loan (need to hurry with this one as the third has also arrived) and am still making my way through "Talon" as an ebook.
