glinda: just trying to read (books/reading)
[personal profile] glinda posting in [community profile] readingtogether
November has almost moad an exit from our lives, so its time to look back and report back on what we read this month. Did you get through everything you wanted this month? Or did you read something entirely different? Discover anything new or odd about your reading habits?

Did you saunter over your self-set target deadline - or blast it out of the water like [personal profile] peaceful_sands! - or were you (are you depending on your timezone) reading furiously right up to the final minute of the final day, just to finish one more book?

I had a terrible time getting through a book that's been on my shelf for ages, unread and therefore of unknown desirability. It got better towards the end, but it's going in the giveaway box now. Points of note: a character's demeanour described as both cold and frosty within the same sentence, and a big case of "that's not how viruses work".

Now I can read something better that's been waiting!

I finished seven books in November, and abandoned two. I'm not sure quite how I want to count my success -- I wanted to read 8 books, and I wanted to get my currently reading list down to 30 or below. I nearly did the first (and if all the short fiction I've been reading were bound together, it is at least another), but I barely touched the second.

And there were specific books I wanted to finish, and haven't. I packed two to read on my last plane trip, and didn't touch them, and I suspect I won't touch them on the trip home either, because I have more urgent reading to do (see: all the short stories)

It sounds like you made solid progress with your reading for the month! Well done on getting through two non-fiction books as well as the two library ones.

Oh, shame that it wasn't much fun. I hope the next one is a much more pleasant experience.

Thank you. I figured eight was doable, because I've read half of rather a lot! And three of them were Murderbot novellas, so I read those in a weekend. It was a great weekend!

Well done on what you did get through even if you didn't complete all of your goals.

I finished 5 audio books, 3 more than the intended goal, and also got far enough through a sixth that I finished it on 1st December.

I finished 4 actual books + 2 graphic novels and had started the final option for books on my initial list but am still reading it now as I also started another one that I wanted to finish before the movie came out (I've finished it now)even though it wasn't on my original list.

Well done on getting through all of those! I'm particularly impressed with the audio books and tripling your goal!
