glinda: just trying to read (books/reading)
[personal profile] glinda posting in [community profile] readingtogether
It's the end of the fourth week of the challenge, but panic not, its not quite the end of the month, so you've still got time to squeeze in a bit more reading as the month doesn't actually end until Wednesday. So I'll be doing a final checkin/round up post next Friday.

In the meantime, how goes the reading this week? Have we fallen behind or are we racing ahead? Feeling inspired or hiding from the world?

:(

I've read bits of things, but nothing from end to end, and overlapping my stated to-read-for-this-challenge list only in the "something else" categories.

Sorry things still aren't going the way you want them to reading-wise. Hopefully things will look up for you in the weeks to come and you'll find both the energy and the time to read happily and there will be lots of good books waiting for you.

I have not read much. In fact, I ditched my yearly reading goals because they were causing me stress.

Good decision - reading should be enjoyable for the most part and not stress inducing - I'll admit to a few exceptions to the rule when it comes to studying or with certain books where another fulfillment comes from them but not necessarily 'enjoyment' as such.

I've finished A Study in Lavender and My Name Is Anne, She Said, Anne Frank. I'm partway through Howards End Is On The Landing. It fits the challenge well since it's about the author spending a year reading and re-reading books from her home.

Thank you! :) It's very enjoyable so far. I love reading about other people reading!

That last one sounds interesting - while I could easily read from the books in the house for a year, I can't imagine not getting any new ones that have suddenly taken my interest.

It's enjoyable! She does have exceptions for academic texts and books sent to her for review. I could maybe manage not buying books for a year, though I would miss book flea markets dearly. But not even checking things out from the library? Yeah, I wouldn't be able to hold out for a year.

I finished Grim Tuesday by Garth Nix (and have moved Drowned Wednesday further up the pile to read next month I hope), I finished The Shack By Wm Paul Young which was a struggle and I'm three quarters of the way through A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. This means I've read 9 and three-quarters of the ten books chosen from the list I gave at the beginning so far.

I've also read and finished Black Butler Volume 22 by Yana Toboso and am a little over halfway through The Rebel Prince by Celine Kiernan and Magyk by Angie Sage.

So in total I've completed 10 books and have 3 more on the go in which I am at least halfway through. I hope to get at least one of these finished before the end of the month (and probably the latest Black Butler book to be released - I picked it up yesterday)
