Lingering Challenge

Happy Holidays! It's time for the annual readingtogether Lingering Challenge!

Since the year is nearly over, it's time to see what's lingering.

We all have that book. The one we'll get to later. The one that doesn't get chosen. The one that's well-intentioned. (It's been sitting there for a long time, okay.)

While it doesn't have to be the absolute oldest thing on your TBR shelf, if you even know what is, this is the time to read* something that's been waiting for awhile.

I think I'm going to read either the Shira Glassman books on the shelf, or the quartet of Tamora Pierce books that I worked out a couple of weeks ago that I've never read (the Keladry series).

The Keladry books were always my favorite ones when I was younger! I wonder how they would hold up now.

I can see why that would be! But I'm struggling with them - the writing is great, but oh, I don't want to watch a kid suffer through the misogyny. I may have to put them back on the shelf unfinished.

I got a physical copy of Half Sick of Shadows by Laura Sebastian for Christmas last year, so I really want to finish reading! This year I have only been reading e-books so that's probably why I haven't picked it up until now.

I'm currently making my way through a book that's listed in my library as having been acquired in or before 2011 - pretty sure it's much further back than that as I found the gift tag with it from my sister and her boyfriend at the time and it's more than 20 years since they were together! It's going to be followed shortly by one that I acquired in 2014 so pretty sure that also fits the bill.

Several years ago, my mother loaned me Ron Hansen's Nebraska and at least it is short and short stories so I'll try to power through so I can finally return it.

I've been putting off finishing Mother of Learning #3 for months, simply because I didn't want it to be over. Well, it's been long enough that volume #4 is out now...
