We're heading into the home stretch! How's the reading going?

For added optional discussion, if you'd like- Have you added anything unexpected to your TBR pile this month? Or have you stuck to your plan?

I finished "My name is Philippa"! It was moving and very well written. It's the memoir of a local trans woman and it was nice to read someone's story set in a place I recognise, with street names and locations I know about, and see how the mindset in society has slowly, slowly evolved over the last few decades.

The books I added to my TBR are library books I had on hold that arrived, so nothing unexpected there 😂 Just the usual cycle.

I swung back towards zines because The Electrum Archive, Downtime In Zyan and Wail all arrived finally and yaaaay ~ it's zine-reading time ~~ Still poking at The Hacker Crackdown, and also omgomg I discovered Victoria Finlay had a new book and it's fabric and yessss ~~~

Also had the first volume of The Husky And His White Cat Shizun arrive. I already regret this fact after the first page. Pfeh.

I finished Alan Rickman diaries, which I enjoyed a lot -it was a good peek into his character and his life. I am now reading "Husband Material" a rom com that is the sequel to "Boyfriend Material" but all the jokes and situations and hijinks just feel forced. Still, it's not a demanding read so I will press on.

Halfway through Christopher and His Kind, which I think I’ll set the goal of finishing by the end of the month. I can do it!

I finished this book around the end of November, and it was an enjoyable read! If you get to it, I hope you like it. :)

I remember starting it ages and ages ago, back when I lived ina city with several libraries. It will be much harder to get a copy here, but I‘ll do my best.

I finished the first official English volume of "The Husky and His White Cat Shizun", which is also my first time reading it, and I liked it a lot! Immediately afterward I finished "Boyfriend Material" by Alexis Hall, which I really liked most of the first 89% of, but the ending was... well. I've also read a bit of fanfic this week.

Currently debating continuing stuff I've been working on, rereading (mostly "Little Mushroom" by Shisi and "The Chronicles of Osreth" by Katherine Addison), or starting something new.

Oh also forgot um... I was worried I would hate "Little Mushroom", given it has a number of squicks for me. But it's one of my favorite reads for the year lol But I'd also been planning to read it for a while (not necessarily in November, but it's been on my list since before December 2021). It's more surprising that I loved it so much than that I didn't plan to read it at all (and it made me dislike other books lol). I didn't plan to read "Boyfriend Material" (quite literally ran across it last... Sunday? And picked it up that night, read most of it in 48 hours), and given my feelings on the book overall, I'm mixed on whether I'm happy I added it to my list for the month.

My plan for the month did not survive first contact with reality. Right now, my goal is a) to read something every day and b) document it! Which I have been doing over at mastodon, as a low key way to train myself into using the site.

Haven't been doing a ton of reading that's not for work, but read through Jessi Zabarsky's Weekly Bun Life vol 1. I'd seen a lot of the comics before but it was still v nice to reread in collected/hardcopy form!

Honestly I'm not much of one for planning what I read in advance at all, but I did just pick up a copy of Starbuck's Shivadh Omnibus! So definitely looking forward to reading that soon
