72-hour trainreads challenge

Hello, welcome to another instalment of "Rachel spends too much time on trains and tries to spend some of it reading".

This weekend I will spend at least 10 hours on trains. Possibly more (I have foolishly got involved in a hobby that is prone to last-minute organisation). Some of it will be a bus-replacement, and some of it will be in company, but in general, plenty of time for reading.

I'm making this post approx 10:30 Friday morning in the UK; I will make a check-in post around 10:30 Monday morning UK time. To join in: set yourself a realistic goal or two in the comments, and let's see how we go!

Good luck with the overdue books!

I have a bookclub book I need to knock out, technically feasible over the weekend... but since visiting a friend will likely take up a chunk of my Saturday, probably not going to get finished. Might finish a news anthology I'm further along in instead.

Good luck with whichever you decide!

I started typing this comment and then went away and read without posting it, so I've already met part of this!

I'd like to:

  • Finish The Only Good Indian (Stephen Graham Jones)
  • Finish Honeycomb (Joanne Harris)
  • Read the entirety of The Kaiju Preservation Society (John Scalzi)
  • Get to page 100 of Curry (Lizzie Collingham)
  • Start reading The Obelisk Gate (N.K. Jemisin)
  • Maybe also read Labours of Stone (Emma Mort Harding)

That sounds like a lot, but I've actually already finished the first two. I had 50 pages to go in one and 120ish in the other, so I'm surprised they're already done. Here's to a good reading weekend!
