72 hour Trainreads Challenge

I will spend 8 hours of the next 72 on trains[1], so welcome to this Trainreads Challenge, where I try to use the time for reading rather than doomscrolling.

I'm making this post shortly before 1pm UK time; I'll make a check-in post around 1pm UK time on Monday. To join in, set yourself some realistic goals given your free time in the next 72 hours, and see you on the other side.

[1] probably; there's a covid exposure in the household so my plans might change abruptly depending on how testing goes; anyway, I already blocked the time out so I can use it for reading even if I'm not actually on a train, that's how it works yes?

• Start The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski because it's due back Tuesday and three people are waiting for it, so I probably can't renew it
• I want to write up some notes on The Menopause Manifesto (by hand, to avoid online distraction) before that goes back tomorrow
• ditto the notes on the Snow White picture books
• I'm on an Anne McCaffrey kick on the ereader, so if I want a break from The Last Wish I can (re)read some dragon books

I'm 100 pages into Kings of the Wyld and hope to get another 100 pages or so read this weekend~ Really enjoying it so far. After the chain of clunkers I've tried to read lately, it's pure joy to be have something that's clicking.

I have The Jakarta Method on deck, but I could only get a Swedish translation from the library, so it's a wild ride of reading, getting very defensive about "who are YOU to tell me about the US during The Cold War, you Swede?" and then remembering that I'm reading a Swedish translation of the English original and that the author is American 😂

Hee! I do not read well enough in any language other than English but that sounds wild.

This comes at a good time, because I have some library books borrowed that I need to read! The one I'm reading first is Libriomancer by jimhines. It's a reread and I'm finding it just as delightful the second time around. I'm hoping to finish it this weekend.

I'm gonna read at least one chapter each of Faire de la bande dessinée and Joan of Arc military leader, plus the French translation of Inanna's descent pdf.

I need to read at least three chapters of Little Women! I'm on 17 and my friend that I'm reading it 'with' is on chapter 34. Welp.
