Pictures Challenge

This is a challenge for all books with a focus on pictures. This includes comics, graphic novels, art books, picture books and anything else that fits this theme for you.

I have a lot of comics piled up and thought this would be a nice way for us to start into the new year.

Would any of you like to join in? What do you plan to tackle?

I would be up for joining in! I have some Captain Marvel’s I’ve been meaning to tackle, and some Asterix the Gaul (in Gaelic!) that I keep meaning to read, that seems a fun way to start the year!

Excellent, I like both those plans! :D

I'd like to join in! I have an art book, some manga, and random comics I picked up during Free Comic Book Day last year that I haven't gotten around to reading yet.

I'll join in! I got a couple new manga volumes recently I need to read, and I have another (maybe a two others) that I'd like to re-read. Sounds like fun! <3

Count me in! I need to make headway on the final four volumes of Mushishi.

Absolutely, maybe I can finally finish Glory of Losers!

Er... most of them. I've read the first two or three but it's been awhile, so I want to start over and it's a fourteen volume series. Theoretically that's not impossible, but the universe is unfairly against me.

I would like to read Persepolis. I've had a borrowed copy on my shelf for too long.

I also have Persepolis on my reading wishlist. I don't have a lot of time in the next fortnight, but mayhap I'll prioritise that so that we can discuss it if we both have the energy.

Time to hit that LSH hardback I've been avoiding since I finally got it.

And some other LSH while I'm at it.

I don't have a lot of time for personal reading in the next fortnight, but I'd like to at least finish one of the following

  • I'm partway through the graphic non-fiction with text by George Takei about internment camps in USA during WWII that I'd really like to have the energy to finish (it is not light reading).
  • Stars in Their Eyes which I think is part memoir? I remember being very excited when I got it, and then have just not had time to read it.
  • Books 2 & 3 in the Witch Boy series, while I still remember what the story of the first volume was!
  • volumes 2 & 3 of Once and Future (weird modern day Arthurian whatsit)
  • Persepolis, given someone else is going to be reading it, and that might motivate me more than anything else!

Later in the year sounds fabulous. I, too, have many graphic novels to catch up on -- I've been buying them for Youngest, who reads them at a much greater rate than I, so I have all of the ones they recommend to get through!
