November Group Read Version 2.0: Intro Post

So November snuck up on me this year (less people on my dwircle doing Nanowrimo this year evidentially) but last year several people said they enjoyed the read-along and would be in favour of doing it again so seeing as it tis the season of setting ridiculous targets and meeting (or exceeding) them against the odds it feels fitting. Last year's challenge inspired me to set myself the challenge of reading a book a month that I already owned, and well I'm only on 6 and I imagine other people who set themselves similar challenges are probably similarly behind. So here, is the perfect chance to catch up.

Basically this can be as big or as little of a commitment as you feel up to. Dependant on your reading speed/available time you can sign up to read one book or ten books. Doesn't matter how big or small the book, only that its something that has been taking up space on your book shelf (or case/box/tottering pile beside your bed) for some time and you've never quite got round to it.

All you need to do is comment below with the book(s) you want to read this month.

Then each Friday I post a check-in post, and you comment with your progress so far. Celebrating little achievements as well as big ones is heartily encouraged.

So basically the minute I decide that I'm going to read 'this' book my brain goes 'ooh shiny' at every other book I own, so I'm just making of books I own and haven't read and challenging myself to read (/finish in a couple of cases) any 4 of them this month.

So this is probably not the best time for me to try this (given I'm also doing Nano!) but that said, I'm still going to try.

I'm going to set my goal as reading 2 or more of the following :-

"Halt's Peril" by John Flanagan
"Wolf of the Plains" by Conn Iggulden
"Mao's Last Dancer" by Li Cunxin
"The Keeping Place" by Isobelle Carmody
"Circle of Fire" by Michelle Zink

and to listen to at least two audiobooks from the following list - (does that count as a goal?)

"Agatha Raisin Kissing Christmas Goodbye" by M.C. Beaton
"Point Omega" by Don DeLillo
"Adrian Mole - The Prostate Years" by Sue Townsend.

I have forty-four books out from the library. I have a habit of checking things out for the maximum time I'm allowed and never actually reading them, no matter how much I meant to read them when I checked them out. I want to read at least fifteen of these books. I ain't listing them, though, there's forty-four of them!

Thank you. I hope you enjoy your audiobooks - I'm down to my last three, but I'm already eyeing a new one (so shouldn't do that until I've got emptier shelves really!)
