Quick challenge: Pick a book, any book!
I'm seeing the end of the year heading for me very fast, and the list of books I was going to read This Year is nowhere near as small as I want it. So! for this week (umm, say, between now and sometime Sunday) the challenge is to select one book, and focus on finishing it.
What book are you going to try and get to the other end of this week?

I'm about half way through Richard Osman's most recent Thursday Murder Club book, The Last Devil To Die. It is giving me the irrits, but I do really want to find out what the plot is, so I'm still going. I think, however, this book has solidified my intention to not auto-buy this author any more.

And yeah, one less author to auto-buy is good, at least for the length of the tbr pile ;-)

Oh, that sounds challenging as a thing to do in December! Multiple novels while everything else is going on!

Sounds like you are now set for the rest of the season. Hope the one you picked was pleasant to read. Reading in bed is so comfy.

And then also "A Japanese Nightingale" which is not my cup of tea so far BUT I have a beautiful hardback edition with lots of gorgeous illustrations so I can at least enjoy those!

I did finally finish Carrying the Fire yesterday (memoir by Michael Collins, the astronaut who stayed in orbit while Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon) and got it back to the library only ten days overdue (after renewing it all possible times). It was a good book, it's just I didn't start it until it was nearly overdue.
I have five more physical books nominally due back on 19 Dec, all of which I think I can renew, so I'm focusing on Honour's Knight and Heaven's Queen, books 2 & 3 of a milsf trilogy by Rachel Bach (omg, I just found she's written oodles more as Rachel Aaron). I can't actually get to the library on 19 Dec, it's either Sat 16 or Sat 23, but if I can get both the Bach books back this Sat that'll be good.

Best wishes for those library books. :-)

It was really interesting!
I have finished the Rachel Bach books, go me!!

I also need to finish 'Split Infinity' by Piers Anthony which is a paperback I have underway and at least one of the ebooks I have on the go - I have 2 underway and both are early reviewer copies with another waiting to be read. Not sure where I'll find the time for them all! At least with the audio one, I can clean while listening and there's always plenty of that waiting to be done!

I wish you much success and much progress with all of those. :-)

That sounds like a fascinating book.

Oh! That is usually difficult because I usually read several books at once and finish them within a fairly short timespan... but this one is easy, because I've been stalled on finishing Deanna Raybourn's The Impossible Impostor since I a) learned the ending and b) realised it was going to be driven by the "we can't possibly talk to each other honestly" trope of stupidness.
So I will choose that. Skimming it is fine if that is the only way I can get it read. I just want to get done with it.

Best wishes for finishing this book, whether you have to skim it or not. :-)

I am also a reads many books simultaneously person - I've finished multiple other books in the time I've been reading the one I picked!

Now I don't think I'll get any reading done the rest of this week, not which how little I got done today for uni and with how much I need to write more on that long letter plus the other project for uni. Too bad. But I hope to continue with that same book next week - once I have found it, that is!

Good luck with getting the uni work done in a timely manner. There will be more such challenges - I have a laundry list of books to focus on!

Ooooh, I much look forward to future challenges. :D

New challenge post is up! You are probably sensibly asleep as I write this, assuming I've worked out the time difference between us correctly, but it will be then whenever you wake up and look :)
